ABOUT THE PRODUCT (OXIDAT)

WHERE ARE THE OXIDAT PRODUCTS MADE?

Oxidat Co is an Malaysian based company. Our raw material are currently produced in the Netherlands, and packaged in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

HOW DO I STORE MY OXIDAT PRODUCTS?

Our products, both in tablet and solution form, are sensitive to heat and light. Please store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Solution should be stored in the non-transparent bottle provided.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF OXIDAT PRODUCTS?

Oxidat tablets itself have a shelf life of 18 – 24 months. In solution form (when it is diluted in water), Oxidat solution has a shelf life of 30days.

WHY CAN OXIDAT BE USED FOR ONLY A MONTH?

Once Oxidat tablet is transformed into liquid form, it is most effective when used within 40 days of activation because it is actually Chlorine Dioxide gas in liquid form. These gas will evaporate throughout until it is less effective after 40days.

CAN OXIDAT CURE FLU OR COLD?

No. But it helps eliminate the risk of high cross-contamination of germs around you.

WHAT DISEASES CAN OXIDAT PROTECT ME FROM?

Air-borne diseases, caused by: H1N1, Pandemic Influenza, Hand Food Mouth Diseases Virus (HFMD), Hepatitis B Virus, Hepatitis C Virus, Newcastle Diseases Virus, Norwalk Virus, Coronavirus (now Covid-19)
Food-poisoning, caused by: Cholera germ, Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Salmonella, Escherichia Coli Strain (E-Coli), Legionella Pneumophila, Enterococcus faecalis (VRE)

HOW CAN OXIDAT ELIMINATE ODOUR/DIFFERENT FROM NORMAL AIR-FRESHENERS?

Oxidat is able to neutralize odour by breaking down odour-causing compounds, unlike other conventional odour treatment (e.g. air fresheners) only mask bad smells using synthetic fragrance, which includes toxic chemicals linked to cancer, asthma, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reaction. Also, the ingredients in most air fresheners temporarily combine with odour to add a pleasant smell, but it won’t last.

CAN I CLEAN WITH OXIDAT?

No. Oxidat is not a cleaning product. Cleaning products only remove dirt, and other organic material from surfaces but does not necessarily kill germs. Thus, Oxidat is used to kill germs, which further reduce the risk of spreading infection.

WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE CHLORINE? ARE THEY THE SAME?

They are not the same. Chlorine Dioxide smells somewhat like chlorine bleach, but they are very different chemicals. The use of Chlorine Dioxide instead of Chlorine prevents the formation of harmful halogenated disinfection byproducts that is cancer-causing, decreases the risk of chemical pollution and by products. Also, Chlorine dioxide is a more effective disinfectant than chlorine, causing much lower required concentration and contact time to kill microorganisms.

DO YOU NEED TO THROW THE REMAINING SOLUTION WHEN IT IS EXPIRED?

Not necessarily, but we recommend you to throw the old solution out and refill a new fresh set to dilute the new tablet.

IF IT IS SAFE, CAN I DRINK IT?

No. Not at this dosage of concentration. NSF registered level for disinfecting drinking water using Chlorine Dioxide is 0.8mg/L.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE NSF AND EPA?

National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) International is an independent organization that provides standards development, product certification, testing, auditing, education and risk management for public health and the environment. Manufacturers, regulators and consumers alike look to NSF International for the development of public health standards and certification that help protect the world’s food, water, health and consumer products.

US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) develops and enforces regulations for human health and environment protection, as well as voluntary and technical assistance programs, and international coordination on environmental issues. The agency researches and sets standards for environmental programs and delegates.

ABOUT CHLORINE DIOXIDE (CLO2)

HOW IS CLO2 BETTER THAN OTHER NON-OXIDIZING DISINFECTANT? (e.g. Alcohol and Quaternary Ammonium)

Non-oxidizing disinfectants provide reasonable efficacy against bacteria and fungi. However, they are less (or not) effective against viruses and mycobacteria and have no credible efficacy against bacterial spores inacceptable contact times. In contrast, chlorine dioxide has a proven public record of being a high-level sporicidal disinfectant in contact times as short as 30 seconds.

HOW IS CLO2 BETTER THAN OTHER OXIDIZING DISINFECTANT?(e.g. Chlorine, Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid, Ozone)

Other oxidizing disinfectant are capable, at suitable concentrations, of providing sporicidal disinfection. However, Hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid are known to be corrosive and can be a hazard to operators. Ozone generators are expensive and chlorine based disinfectants have short shelf lives. Chlorine is also known to form potentially hazardous by-products, such as trihalomethanes (THMs) such as chloroform, and halogenated organic compounds, that is linked to cancer.

HOW IS CLO2 BETTER THAN CHLORINE? ARE THEY SIMILAR?

Although “chlorine” can be found in the name of Chlorine Dioxide, it is NOT a chlorine type disinfectant. CLO2 does not release free chlorine (hypochlorous acid) to provide its biocidal function. When oxidation happens the CLO2 molecules take over the biocidal kill of the full spectrum of bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoa, yeast, methanogens and viruses. From this reaction none of the above harmful by-products are disposed.

Also, chlorine and chlorine type disinfectant (sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite etc) generate so called “free chlorine”- also known as hypochlorous acid, the biocidal component that does the actual killing of pathogens but also form very dangerous by-products in water (THM, HAA, Mutagen X, etc). Free chlorine is released by chlorine and chlorine type disinfectant when applied in water. The by-products are too dangerous to accept anymore potable water or our food. If disinfection is needed we need to look at better alternatives. Chlorine is still used in large quantities because its mainly inexpensive and easy to use.
